Frequently Asked Questions

Which sweets are offered to Lord Ganesha on Ganesh Chaturthi?

Modaks and ladoos come first, especially motichoor and besan ladoo, traditionally offered in a set of 21. Kaju katli, peda, coconut barfi and puran poli are also common bhog, and any sweet made with ghee, jaggery or coconut is welcome.

Can I buy Ganesh Chaturthi prasad sweets online in the UK?

Yes. This collection brings Haldirams, Swadist, Jaimin, Sohum Udyog and our own fresh handmade sweets together with delivery to most UK postcodes, so the bhog arrives with the rest of your puja order.

How many ladoos or modaks are offered to Ganpati?

21 is the traditional count, from the story of Ganesha circling his parents and being rewarded for his wisdom. Many families offer 11 or 5 instead. Boxes here range from 6 pieces to 300g and 400g packs so you can make up the number.

How long do these sweets keep?

Dry sweets such as kaju katli, soan papdi and besan ladoo keep for weeks in a sealed pack. Milk sweets like peda, rasmalai and our fresh handmade modaks and laddus should be refrigerated and eaten within a few days. Check the pack for each product.

Do you have fresh handmade sweets for the festival?

Yes. Our own fresh mango, rose and rava modaks and the white coconut laddu are made in small batches in 250g boxes of five to six pieces. Find them in the Modaks and Laddus collection alongside this one.
